The actual numbers vary widely (tens' of thousands to hundreds' of thousands or more) because nobody really knows for sure. Including me!

Lets just say there are a bunch of them and they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. From World Class data centers to neighborhood resellers operating literally from their kitchen table. But out of this bunch, there are really only a handful of web hosts worth mentioning. I mean only a few. And how to find them is the real question.

Well, faced with so many choices, I think it's pretty safe to say most people don't even know where to begin. In fact, they're overwhelmed.

And just where do you begin? Well, with the sheer numbers you're up against, you need an efficient way to narrow down the field quickly. The best way, I've found, to do this is by starting your search based on RECOMMENDATIONS and EXPERIENCE!

So ask or look for recommendations from people you trust (they can be recognized experts in the field or somebody you know personally with a web site) and find out what experiences they've had with the web site host.
