Many free web hosts have a short lifespan, so your hosting could disappear quickly and if you don't back-up your website often, you can end up losing a good deal of data.

If you're serious about your website, your best bet is to go with a reliable web host. Some offer plans as low as $2 a month while others offer discounts if you pay for a year in advance. Do your homework though, as low price isn't always a sign of quality. By researching your hosts, you can make sure you find a host that meets your needs.

Even though you can find web hosting for a few dollars a month, some of the more expensive plans include more disk space, higher bandwidth and other extras including databases, email accounts and free templates.
